Research and Internship Opportunities

Internships, research, and field experiences are not only exciting, interesting, and fun—they can also be extremely beneficial to your personal, academic, and professional growth.  These experiences can allow you to test out different careers and fields, find and network with potential employers and mentors, and learn new skills.  These opportunities abound, especially in our vibrant city!  You’re lucky to be here in NYC—take advantage of it!  Come to my office hours and let’s discuss more!

You can also work closely with faculty members right here at Hunter!  You can get involved in faculty research or do an independent study on a topic that interests you!  Come to my office hours and let’s discuss more!

As a Human Biology Major, you can earn up to 3 credits for participating in an independent study/research or internship!  Come to office hours or email to discuss further.  To get started you can:

Download the Independent Study (HMBIO402) application

Complete our Online Internship (HMBIO403) Request Form

*Once given approval and permission for HMBIO402 or HMBIO403, students MUST enroll in these courses via CUNYFirst!*

There are many ways that Hunter can help you find these opportunities. The Hunter SciMON – Research Opportunities webpage is a good place to start looking. If you are interested in volunteering or doing research in one of Hunter College's many faculty labs, see Hunter SciMON's Faculty Labs webpage. You can speak with the Human Biology Program's director about this at any time. There are regularly scheduled office hours every week, and every semester we have an Open House.

Career Development Services (CDS) is another great resource for Hunter students. You can download their Internship Guide or visit their webpage for more information.
