Elementary
Our six Elementary level classes focus on learning the basic vocabulary, verbs and phrases needed to comfortably converse in Italian.
Placement Test Holding Class (PIPTEST) |

| Class Description: This is a holding class. If you are new to Parliamo Italiano program, before registering you must first take a placement exam. You need to contact the office via email parliamo@hunter.cuny.edu to make an appointment Monday- Friday from 9am-4pm for the placement test. However, if you know that you are a beginner and will be starting in the beginner class, you can forgo the exam and directly register online, or via phone. |

Elementary 1 (PIEL1) |
|
| Course Description: For absolute beginners. Learn correct pronunciation, nouns, adjectives, verbs in the present tense, directions, and numbers. |

Elementary 2 (PIEL2) |
|
| Course Description: Introduces prepositions with articles, irregular verbs in the present tense, and the plural of possessive adjectives. Learn to tell time, describe the weather and describe a house. |

Elementary 3 (PIEL3) |
|
| Course Description: Expands on the use of prepositions and introduces the "passato prossimo" past tense with emphasis on auxiliary verbs. Introduction to "il partitivo". |

| Elementary 4 (PIEL4) |
|
| Course Description: Expands on the use of the past tense "passato prossimo," with emphasis on direct object pronouns, the verbs CONOSCERE and SAPERE, and the use of "CI." Introduces the imperfect past tense. You will learn idiomatic expressions and will increase your vocabulary through fun readings and conversation practice. |

Elementary 5 (PIEL5) |
|
| Course Description: Focuses on the use of the two past tenses (Passato Prossimo and Imperfetto), on indirect object pronouns, and on the verb PIACERE. Continue expanding your vocabulary and practicing conversational skills. |

| Course Description: Focuses on the future tense, reflexive verbs, the pronoun "ne" and relative pronouns. More vocabulary and expressions are introduced through grammar and conversation. |
