Advising Resources

Notifications and Forms

Click here for the most up-to-date forms used for advising purposes.

There are also a number of Advising Bulletin Boards in the corridor outside of Hunter North, Room 611. These display a Calendar of Advising Events and information about registration, advising hours, jobs, psychology in the news, and other topics of interest to majors.

Registration Policies

Matriculated / Degree-seeking Students

Students are required to read the Hunter Catalog for the most accurate information about pre-requisites and the curriculum. Students are encouraged to speak with a psychology advisor at least once a semester. Please note, if a student is dropped from (a) course(s), it may jeopardize any financial aid awards for the current and subsequent semesters. Students are encouraged to speak with their general advisor in the Advising Services located at Hunter East, Room 1119 to confirm financial aid compliance.

Non-matriculated / Visiting Students

All visiting (non-matriculated / non-degree) students must bring printed copies of all relevant transcripts from previous colleges when meeting with an advisor.

The pre-requisites for all courses are firm and must be met in order to be granted permission. The college mandates departmental consent for any and every class a visiting student wishes to enroll in, regardless if the pre-requisite has been completed in residence. COVID-19 Update: Permissions are temporarily granted over e-mail - please write to psychadv@hunter.cuny.edu for assistance with registration.

Please refer to the Hunter College Catalog for more information on Psychology courses.

Senior Auditors

Senior auditors are allowed to audit any class ranging from 100 to 300-level, with the exception of PSYCH 248 and PSYCH 250.

Senior auditors must work directly with the Office of the Registrar for class placements. Visit Hunter North, Room 217 for more information.
