Hunter’s MFA Program in Art Gets High Ranking from U.S. News

The 2011 Graduate School Rankings issued by U.S. News lists Hunter's MFA Program in Fine Arts high in the News nationwide roster of MFA Programs in Art and Design. Of the 230 programs assessed, Hunter was named #13.

The ratings were based on a fall 2011 survey of art school deans and other high-ranking art school academics who were asked to rank the academic quality of a wide swath of graduate-level art programs on a scale of 1-5; Hunter's overall rating, 3.8, and its #13 rank were shared by Bard College, Temple University, University of California-San Diego, and Washington University in St. Louis.

Hunter's MFA program ranked higher than those at a number of branches of the University of California, including Berkeley; the University of Chicago; Cornell; several CUNY and SUNY colleges; New York University; Stanford; and well over a hundred other institutions including such specialized schools as the Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts.

Hunter regularly scores high in U.S. News reports, including those for public regional universities, best regional universities, and graduate schools of social work.
