A new app – the first ever on parenting – is now available at the iTunes store, thanks to Hunter Professor Tom McIntyre. Called “Positive Parenting Practices,” the app contains two hours of narration accompanied by fast-moving, hand-drawn images “to help parents raise ethical, moral, well-adjusted and well-behaved children.”

The goal is to give parents strategies to teach their children about making good choices even when there are no adults around. Part of the educational process for parents is understanding the factors that influence children’s decisions and learning which factors should concern them most.

Dr. Mac, as he popularly known, is a professor of special education and coordinator of Hunter’s graduate program in learning and behavior disorders. He is also director of www.BehaviorAdvisor.com, the world’s most visited website on children’s behavior. His new app is just the start. He is already at work on a second one on parenting, and a third app for parents of children with attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder will follow.
