Message from the President on the Explosion in East Harlem

As part of the East Harlem community, Hunter is fully committed to helping our friends, neighbors, and colleagues in this time of great need following Wednesday's building explosion, in which we lost one of our own, Sgt. Griselde Camacho. Under the leadership of Silberman School of Social Work Dean Jacqueline Mondros, we are working with the Red Cross and community-based organizations to help provide displaced or traumatized families and individuals with housing, meals, health services, daycare, and other essentials.

Hunter has also made contributions to the Red Cross and has established "Hunter Supports East Harlem," a fund to support survivors, families, and other East Harlem residents affected by the explosion. To donate, please click here or call 212.650.3607.

In the days and weeks ahead, Hunter will continue to help the East Harlem community recover and heal in the wake of this tragic event. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kanako Okuda at kokuda@hunter.cuny.edu
