Three Hunter Seniors Win Critical Language Scholarships for Study Abroad

Hunter students Mehriniso Khaydarova ’19, Sally Li ’19 and Sabrina Rich’19 have been awarded the U.S. State Department’s 2019 Critical Language Scholarship to travel overseas and study “critical needs” languages this summer.

The CLS Program seeks to increase the number of young Americans fluent in critical foreign languages and well prepared for the 21st-century’s globalized workforce. The program provides fully funded, group-based intensive language instruction and structured cultural-enrichment experiences.

Mehriniso Khaydarova and Salli Li will both study Korean in South Korea. Sabrina Rich will study Bengali in Bangladesh. The Hunter community celebrates their achievement, and wishes them all a wonderful summer of learning and discovery.
