Student Support Services – Part Time Students

Student Support Services receives scholarship funds each year earmarked for part-time students.

It is the intention that scholarship money be given to part-time students to enable them to take a heavier course load – three credits more per semester in most cases.

Student Services will track SIMS data of scholarship recipients to see whether scholarship money is used to add to a student’s course load.

Fall 2009 – Spring 2010

Recruitment and Outreach – First Year Scholarships

The Office of Recruitment and Outreach seeks out well qualified high school and first year students to attend Hunter College.

Knowing what scholarship opportunities are available is a powerful recruitment tool.  The Office works to maintain a current list of available scholarships at all times.

The Office of Recruitment and Outreach will create print- and web-based communication tools for publicizing and promoting the available scholarships at Hunter College.

Spring 2010

Student Support Services – Scholarship Transparency

Student Support Services administers many scholarships for Hunter students.

Scholarship information is available upon request within the Student Support Services offices.

A database of all available scholarships will be created and promoted via multi-medium communication.  The amount of applicants will be tracked and used as a baseline for future comparison.

Fall 2009 – Spring 2010

Student Support Services – Monther’s Day Scholarships

Mother’s Day Scholarships are need- and academic-based funds donated in the name of female hunter graduates.

Student Support Services works to identify scholarship recipients before the beginning of the fall semester.

Through a collaborative effort between Student Affairs, Financial Aid, and Institutional Advancement, Student Support Services hopes to identify more scholarship recipients, earlier. Data will be collected and used as a baseline for future comparison.

Spring 2010

Institutional Advancement – Departmental Balance Reports

The Office of Institutional Advancement (the Hunter College Foundation) keeps track of all scholarship funds available to each department.

Information is available upon request.

By tracking all departmental scholarship funds in a single report, the Foundation will provide all departments with quarterly allocation reports.

Quarterly, beginning December 2009

Institutional Advancement – Donor Updates

The Hunter College Foundation provides scholarship donors with reports detailing who recipients are and when the funds were given.

Each report is currently compiled without using assistive technology and automated processes.

Using NextGen Software and the fundraising database, a standardized form will be created attempting to capture all relevant information for donors regarding scholarship funds and recipients.

Fall 2009 – Spring 2010

Business Office – Departmental Balance Reports

The Business Office keeps track of all scholarship funds available to each department.

Information is available upon request.

By tracking all departmental scholarship funds in a single report, the Business Office will provide all departments with quarterly allocation reports.

Quarterly, beginning September 2009

Office of Financial Aid – FAFSA Awareness

The Office of Financial Aid allocates Federal Aid funds to qualified students who fill out a FAFSA form in a timely manner.

Federal regulations require that students wishing to receive federal aid fill out a FAFSA form every year.  The OFA reminds all Hunter students to continue filling out FAFSA forms.

Using multiple forms of communication, the OFA will ramp up its outreach to all students, reminding them to fill out FAFSA forms each year.  Total federal money allocated each year will be tracked and compared to previous years.
