The Hunter College Testing Center is currently closed on campus. We want everyone to remain safe. This is the updated PAX (E-PAX) information.

Pre-Admission Exam (E-PAX) for Registered Nurse (RN) 


The Hunter-Bellevue School of Nursing uses this exam as part of the application process for the Generic & Accelerated Second-Degree Pathways Nursing Programs. This is a standardized exam used in conjunction with other criteria to determine acceptance to a nursing program. 

The E-PAX comprises of three main areas: Verbal, Mathematics and Science.

The NLN Student Guide will provide you with everything you need to create your new NLN account, purchase prep materials, practice exams, schedule your exam, take your actual test and access your scores.  

  • All students are required to create a new account (even if you had an account in the past).  Students can create an account by clicking on the following Registration URL
  • Be sure to enter your EMPL ID into the Details Field located in Create New Account - Section 2
  • Students are to buy the E-PAX, Pre-admission Exam for Examity
  • The E-PAX is conducted with a Remote Proctor via Examity.  The Hunter College Testing Center is currently closed on campus

  • Log in to the NEW NLN Examination Portal
  • 15 minutes prior to the exam start time, click on Launch Note: It can take up to 30 minutes from the exam start time for an Examity proctor to join the exam session. Click here for Examity Tech Support
  • Be ready to present photo identification bearing both a photo and signature 
  • Only a Basic Calculator is permitted. (No phones, scientific or advanced devices allowed). Note: There is a whiteboard in the exam - no other tools are allowed.


  • You can repeat the exam once every six months for Hunter College.
  • Your results are kept on file with NLN for 3 years.
