Remote Resources for Library Users

The Health Professions Library (HPL) supports the curricular and research needs of students and faculty at the Brookdale Campus of Hunter College. One of four Hunter libraries, the HPL holds nearly 10,000 titles in print, several thousand e-books in biomedical disciplines, and 280 professional journals housed in its 10,000 square feet of space. In addition, their website offers remote access to a massive index of full text articles from journals, magazines and newspapers, and unique digital content via its electronic databases.

The library provides study areas with seating for up to 156 patrons; a reference area with eight computers; printing, copying, and scanning stations; two computer labs, and laptops available for short-term loan. The library's main PC lab has 30 workstations, while its smaller PC lab in W245 has 14 workstations. To support the teaching and learning needs of faculty and students, public workstations offer access to specialized applications such as Epi Info, IBM SPSS Statistics, Wolfram Mathematica, and EndNote reference management software. The librarians lead engaging educational programs and publish electronic guides on topics in information and technology literacy, research, informatics and data management, citation management, and bibliographic tools at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

In addition, all CUNY students, faculty, and staff have full access to all libraries in the CUNY system, regardless of their affiliation. CUNY's library system is a federation of 31 libraries that supports the learning, teaching, and research activities of the University's 25 colleges and 100+ research centers and institutes. Together, the CUNY library system contains more than 6.2 million print volumes, an institutional repository, special collections and archives, and a massive index of 3,500+ electronic databases and 300,000+ e-books supporting more than 30 million searches per year.
