CECA (Centro de Estudios Canarias-América) is the first academic center in the United States to specialize in the relationship between the Canary Islands and the Americas. From the discursive perspective of the coloniality of power, we aim to explore the historical, cultural and literary ties that connect the Spanish Atlantic, with a particular emphasis in the archipelagos, which include Macaronesia (Canary Islands, Cape Verde, Azores and Madeira), the Caribbean islands and Equatorial Guinea. The center is located at Hunter College in New York City. This project comprises the organization of numerous activities, such as conferences, exchange of scholars and students, among other venues.
