Hunter Nursing Students Answer Call to Vaccinate New York

Spring-Summer 2021. SON students and faculty administered COVID-19 vaccines to thousands of New Yorkers.

To help bring an end to the pandemic, Hunter Nursing students answered the call for qualified health care personnel to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to New Yorkers.

In partnership with Weill Cornell Medicine and other community partners, Hunter Nursing students and faculty participated in vaccination events administering over 12,000 doses of Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.

Students and faculty attended events that finished late in the evening to allow individuals who work to get vaccinated after a long commute home. They also attended weekend events to provide flexibility in vaccination times at a variety of locations. The goal of the initiative was to decrease barriers to vaccination in our battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
