Registration FAQ

  • The course I want to register for is full. Can I overtally into it?
The Political Science Department policy does not allow overtallies in our courses. Students are encouraged to continue to try to register, as some students will drop a course during the first week. Students should also use the waitlist for those courses that have enabled a waitlist.
  • I don't meet the prerequisite for this course. Can I still take it?
Course prerequisites may be waived only by the permission of the course instructor. If you have taken ENGL 120 at another school, please contact the English Department to get a Transfer Equivalence. If ENGL 120 is listed on your Hunter transcript and you are still having registration problems, please email the Political Science department
  • I've received transfer credit for PolSc 111. Can I still take PolSc 110?
PolSc 110 is not open to students who have taken or received credit for PolSc 111. Even if you register for PolSc 110, you will not receive credit for both PolSc 110 and PolSc 111.
  • I've received transfer credit for PolSc 115.  Can I still take PolSc 270 ?
PolSc 270 is not open to students who have taken or received credit for PolSc 115. Even if you register for PolSc 270, you will not receive credit for both PolSc 270 and PolSc 115.
