New international students, both  undergraduate and graduate are encouraged to attend a new international student orientation session during their first semester of attendance. These orientations will familiarize students with their privileges and  rights enjoyed  by international students  in the United States ;Additionally, Academic Advisors will discuss the registration  and  academic advising process.

Other topics covered include

  • Obtaining health insurance
  • Employment options available to International Students in the US
  • Social activities made available to International Students by non-profit organizations, especially One-to-World
  • Meet other international students

Following below are tentative dates for orientations:

Wednesday,August 6  from 1:30 PM -3:30PM in room 207 Hunter West Building , Tuesday, August 26 from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM also in room 207 Hunter College West Building  and  Wednesday,  September 10, from 1:30 PM-3:00 PM: room  to be announced very soon.

 Please reserve your seat for only one session;these seats will be distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. In the meantime, please check back for more information about the room number  for the September 10th New Student Orientation  session or  send an e-mail inquiry to .


Students are encouraged to bring copies of their I-20, Passport, Visa and  the Arrival stamp in their passport, as well as a copy of change of status approval, if applicable. These documents wll enable the Internmational Students  Office staff  to answer individual questions quickly and accurately. In addition, any undergraduate students who have already registered for classes are encouraged to bring a copy of their schedule to assist Academic Advisors in their advising.
