About The Dignity for All Students Act (DASA) Workshop

The School of Education's Dignity for All Students Act Workshop is a six-hour course, fully online delivered as a combination of synchronous (live) online and asynchronous work totaling 6 hours. Hunter College is an approved provider by the New York State Education Department for the required DASA training and offers courses to teacher and school counseling candidates.

Dignity For All Students Act (DASA)- One Day Sessions
Course Description:
This one-day course is available to the general public and will address the social patterns of harassment, bullying and discrimination, marginalization and microaggressions, those acts based on a person’s actual or perceived race, color, weight, national origin, ethnic group, religion, religious practice, disability, sexual orientation, gender or sex. Using a proactive perspective, the goal of the course is to help school based personnel create an affirming educational environment for all students by addressing school culture and climate. It will also cover the identification and mitigation of harassment, bullying and discrimination; and strategies for effectively addressing problems of exclusion, bias and aggression in educational settings. Registrants will receive a follow up email with directions and guidance with completing the pre-workshop assignments one week before their scheduled workshop. All students must download and complete the pre-workshop assignments prior to the workshop in order to participate the workshop.

Pre-Workshop Assignments Failure to submit pre-work prior to the start of the workshop, will result in an extended delay in notifying the New York State Education Department and the Hunter College School of Education of workshop completion.
Note: Approximately one week prior to your scheduled DASA workshop date, you will receive an invitation to access to your DASA pre-work, where you will have several assignments to complete on your own time. You must complete the asynchronous pre-work prior to the start of your scheduled DASA workshop.
