Title: Naloxone Training for Pre-Health Students
Description: Naloxone administration is an emergency intervention to prevent opioid overdose. Pre-Health students will get hands-on experience, gain some knowledge about the current opioid crisis and learn how they may help people in their communities. It is also a great experience to include on your health professions graduate school applications.
This training will be conducted by the Manhattan Staten Island Area Health Education Center.
Title: Stress Management for Pre-Health Students
Description: As a pre-med student, stress is an unavoidable part of life. Academics, volunteer hours, extracurricular activities—it all adds up. Unfortunately, many students don’t manage stress well—and struggle as a result. While stress can’t be completely avoided, this workshop will teach you how to reduce stress and anxiety. This workshop is a required workshop for new Pre-Health students. This workshop is also strongly recommended for students who are struggling academically or who are applicants in the current health professions graduate school admissions cycle.
Title: The Medical School Interview
Description: Congratulations! The hard part of the medical school admission process is over. Now, you just have to take advantage of the opportunity and secure your seat in medical school. We believe that preparation is Everything. Our workshop is geared to prepare you for your mock interview with a Pre-Health Advisor and the Big Day at the medical school interview. Our workshop will address the kinds of interviews, what medical schools want, how to prepare for the myriad of questions that may be asked of you, what to wear, and interview preparation strategies.
