Title: Hunter College Pre-Optometry Society Open House
Description: The Hunter College Pre-Optometry Society executive board will provide more information about the club and its mission. This will be a great chance for you to network and meet other students considering optometry school. We will be providing information on shadowing, and other important information about optometry schools admissions.
Title: Trauma Management and Point of Injury Care
Description: We will discuss the main causes of death in emergency care and learn how to manage the three preventable causes of death; which are hemorrhaging, airway compromise, and tension pneumothorax. In addition, we will go over the different phases of initial care from point of injury through medical evacuation. We will have demonstrations of some medical equipment and hands on skills.
Title: Naloxone Training for Pre-Health Students
Description: Naloxone administration is an emergency intervention to prevent opioid overdose. Pre-Health students will get hands-on experience, gain some knowledge about the current opioid crisis and learn how they may help people in their communities. It is also a great experience to include on your health professions graduate school applications. This training will be conducted by the Manhattan Staten Island Area Health Education Center.
Title: Stress Management for Pre-Health Students:The Wellness Toolbox
Description: As a pre-health student, stress is an unavoidable part of life. Academics, volunteer hours, extracurricular activities—it all adds up. The Wellness Toolbox is a self-study workshop designed to offer participants a useful framework for developing an effective approach to overcoming stress, and unhelpful behavioral patterns. This workshop is geared to helping you learn more about yourself, early warning signs of your triggers, as well as what helps you attain a sense of wellness and what doesn’t. Join us into a journey of your Self! This is a required workshop.
Title: FlexMed Early Assurance Program Application Preparation Workshop for Sophomores
Description: This workshop will review the requirements for application to the FlexMed Early Assurance Program of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS). This workshop will specifically focus on how to write the FlexMed essays. A step-by-step analysis of what to discuss in each essay response and how to organize your essay responses will be reviewed. The workshop will also prepare you for the interview. The types of questions you should be prepared to answer and how to be a strong applicant will be covered. Hunter College sophomores who are currently applying or are planning to apply to the Flex-Med Program at ISMMS are strongly encouraged to attend. You will also have the opportunity to speak with successful FlexMed applicant Catherine Stratis. This workshop is a collaboration between Hunter College Macaulay Honors College and the Pre-Health Professions Advising Office.
Title: Community Service 101 for Pre-Health Students
Description: This event will provide information on opportunities for community service. These opportunities include; volunteer work in Disaster Services, Home Fire Preparedness training, Psychological First Aid, Soup Kitchens, Blood Drives, Mass Care and Sheltering. We will explain how each of these events helps in the betterment of those in our communities. This is a required pre-health workshop.

Description: LMSA+ is hosting a panel with Weill Cornell Medical Students. Come and have your questions answered as the medical students provide insight and advice based on their personal experiences. We will also have a presentation from Kaplan providing our members with discount codes and how to access free resources.
Title: Bioethics and its Application for Interview Preparation
Description: Join the Society of Bioethics and Medicine at our first meeting of the year! We will discuss the principles of bioethics and apply these principles to analyze case studies in order to prepare students for health-related interviews.
