Description: Join us for an engaging discussion with Michelina Stoddard. Miki is a 5th year MD/PhD student (Entering class of 2012) in the Tri-Institutional MD/PhD Program at Weill Cornell Medical College. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in neurobiology after transferring from Seattle Central Community College. Miki is the first person in her family to attend college, and having grown up in a socioeconomically disadvantaged environment, understands firsthand the challenges associated with becoming a first-generation medical student. Her professional interests include forensic pathology, inflammation and innate immunity, advocacy for students belonging to groups that are under-represented in medicine, and mentoring students.

Description: The Pre-Health Organization presents Immigration Workshop with Dr. Abraham Aragones from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Join us in an engaging conversation with Dr. Aragones whose areas of expertise include working with primary care provider to address barriers for cancer screening and prevention among minority and immigrant populations, specifically among the Latino population. Dr. Aragones is currently working in the areas of HPV vaccine practices among providers serving large minority populations; developing an intervention to promote the utilization of the HPV vaccine among children of Latino immigrants; and investigating a new model to disseminate and implement evidence-based practices to community physicians serving large Latino populations.

Description: Join us for a CARS review session. There are many myths about the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) section, one of which is that your score depends on luck. If you happen to get “good” passages, all is well, but if you don’t, you are in trouble. It’s practice not luck that will help you conquer the MCAT CARS section.
