Title: Effective Communication for Pre-Health Students
Description: Effective communication is an important skill all future healthcare professionals should have. Effective communication is a key interpersonal skill and learning how we can improve our communication has many benefits. Learn how to communicate more effectively, and how to improve your written and oral communication skills. This is a required Pre-Health workshop.
Title: How to Prepare and Apply to Veterinary Schools
Description: This workshop will offer a step-by-step detailed action plan for students to follow with the intention of providing the framework for a strong and comprehensive veterinary school application. The workshop will break down the students’ responsibilities as an applicant by year and consider strategies that will lead to a more competitive application. This is a required workshop for Pre-Veterinary students.
Title: Preparing for and Applying to MD/PhD Programs
Description: If you are considering pursuing a dual doctorate degree as a physician-scientist, you should attend this workshop. We will discuss how to decide if becoming an MD/Ph.D. is the right path for you. We will also discuss the GPA, MCAT score, and clinical and multi-year research experience necessary to be a competitive applicant for an MD/Ph.D. program. The workshop will also cover the MD/Ph.D. application timeline and process via AMCAS, including when to take the MCAT and apply for a Committee Letter.
Title: Study Abroad 101 for Pre-Health Students
Description: As future health professionals, you will need to be broadly-educated, mature, adaptable citizens who have had significant experience in the world beyond the classroom. Study abroad is an ideal opportunity for Pre-Health students to develop some of the skills and attitudes that are necessary for the practice of medicine—adaptability, self-reliance, and sensitivity to other cultures. Study abroad offers Pre-Health students a unique chance to observe diverse health care systems, explore different cultural attitudes towards health and healing, and often, to gain volunteer experience in a unique healthcare setting while earning college credits. Join for this information session to explore study abroad opportunities available to Hunter College Pre-Health students.

Description: Hunter College LMSA is a bridge chapter in partnership with Weill Cornell Medicine. LMSA+ is hosting a mixer to introduce the new e-board members for the 2019-2020 academic year.
