Naloxone Training for Pre-Health Students
Naloxone administration is an emergency intervention to prevent opioid overdose. Pre-Health students will get hands-on experience, gain some knowledge about the current opioid crisis and learn how they may help people in their communities. It is also a great experience to include on your health professions graduate school applications. This training will be conducted by the Manhattan Staten Island Area Health Education Center.
Pre-Health Group Advising for Transfer Students
The Pre-Health Advising Office will hold a group advising session for transfer students. This session will cover the requirements for a Pre-Health file, Committee Letter and address any other questions or concerns you may have. Many successful Pre-Health students begin their careers at community or other colleges and universities. We strongly encourage you to get involved in the Hunter College Pre-Health community.
Multiple Mini and CASPer Interviews: How to Prepare
A growing number of medical, dental, pharmacy and osteopathic schools of medicine use the Multiple Mini Interview or CASPer methods of selecting applicants to their program. This workshop will explain the goal of the interview formats, what you can expect, what you need to know to be successful, as well as offer a practice scenario, and resources for further exploration. This is a required application planning workshop for Committee Letter and Letter Packet recipients.
Time management for Pre-Health Students
Learning how to effectively manage your time will be one of the most important skills you will need to acquire in order to be successful. Reducing anxiety and procrastination, eliminating cramming, increasing motivation, and gaining extra time are a few of the many advantages of learning how to effectively manage time. Join for this workshop that will help you to maximize your time. This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students. It is also strongly recommended for students who are preparing to apply to professional schools in the upcoming cycle.

Preparing Your Secondary Essays for Health Profession Applications
This workshop will cover everything you need to know about writing your secondary essays for medical, dental, vet, or other health profession applications, including: Why secondary essays are a critical component of your health profession application, •A review of common secondary essay questions, • Tips for how to write effective secondary essays, •Tips for what to avoid in writing your secondary essays, •Organizing the completion of your secondary essays, and •The timing for submitting your secondary essays. Sample secondary essays will be reviewed and copies will be available.
Community Service Volunteering for Pre-Health Students
Jordan Wesley, the Let's Get Ready College Access Managing Director will discuss the importance of community service and will be recruiting volunteers for the program. Let's Get Ready is an educational non-profit offering SAT preparation and application counseling to high school students from underrepresented backgrounds. Volunteers will be trained to serve as tutors and mentors. This is a required workshop for Pre-Health students.
Stress Management for Pre-Health Students
As a pre-med student, stress is an unavoidable part of life. Academics, volunteer hours, extracurricular activities—it all adds up. Unfortunately, many students don’t manage stress well—and struggle as a result. While stress can’t be completely avoided, this workshop will teach you how to reduce stress and anxiety. This workshop is a required workshop for new Pre-Health students. This workshop is also strongly recommended for students who are struggling academically or who are applicants in the current health professions graduate school admissions cycle.
The Medical School Interview
Congratulations! The hard part of the medical school admission process is over. Now, you just have to take advantage of the opportunity and secure your seat in medical school. We believe that preparation is Everything. Our workshop is geared to prepare you for your mock interview with a Pre-Health Advisor and the Big Day at the medical school interview. Our workshop will address the kinds of interviews, what medical schools want, how to prepare for the myriad of questions that may be asked of you, what to wear, and interview preparation strategies.
Effective Communication for Pre-Health Students
Effective communication is an important skill all future healthcare professionals should have. Effective communication is a key interpersonal skill and learning how we can improve our communication has many benefits. Learn how to communicate more effectively, and how to improve your written and oral communication skills.
Pre-Health Group Advising
Hunter Pre-health advisers will hold a group advising sessions for students with pre-health questions. This session will be held in a classroom setting and will allow students to collectively ask questions of the pre-health advising team and to learn from their pre-health peers. All are welcome, especially first-year students!
