The Hunter College Center for Communication Disorders (HCCCD) located in the North Building of the Brookdale Health Sciences campus of Hunter College on East 25th Street, is the Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology's on-campus clinical training site for Speech-Language Pathology master's level students. In addition, doctor of Audiology (AuD) students enrolled in the CUNY AuD Consortium each semester through the HCCCD. The Center provides the opportunity for graduate students in the Department to obtain clinical practicum experience under the supervision of ASHA certified and NYS licensed SLP and AUD faculty. The HCCCD was established in 1957 to provide services to the College and surrounding community for persons of all ages with disorders of speech, language and/or hearing.

The mission of the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and the Hunter College Center for Communication Disorders is to:

1. develop professionals who will meet the healthcare and educational needs of the metropolitan New York area through prevention, assessment and management of communication disorders in children, adolescents and adults from culturally, ethically and linguistically diverse populations;

2. produce clinically based research that will advance knowledge of normal and disordered processes of communication across the lifespan;

3. provide educational and clinical services to the College and the metropolitan New York City communities; and,

4. provide leadership in clinical practice to the professions of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology as a whole.

 

HCCCD has state of the art facilities offering assessment and treatment services in speech, language, voice and hearing to the New York metropolitan community.

Please note: the Hunter College Center for Communication Disorders does not accept any insurance for speech-language or audiology services. The Center can provide clients with a detailed charge sheet to submit to their own insurance providers for reimbursement.

A sliding scale and limited scholarships are available to some individuals for clinic services. Clients may inquire about these possibilities upon making an appointment.

If your you or your child has a Speech-Language Evaluation appointment, please click here to download the appropriate (adult or pediatric) Intake Form. It should be filled out and faxed to: 212 481 3029 at least 3 business days prior to your appointment. You may also scan the completed form and email it to hcccd@hunter.cuny.edu
