Dear Colleague,
The University of Pennsylvania has started a new graduate program in Applied Math and Computational Science. To celebrate this milestone, we are holding a one day symposium on Saturday, September 27 (8:00AM-6:00PM). The speakers for the meeting are:
Marsha Berger Courant Institute, New York University
"Computing Fluid Flows in Complex Geometry"
Herbert Edelsbrunner Duke University, "Measuring with Persistent Homology"
Leslie Greengard, Courant Institute, New York University Moderator of the panel discussion on: "What is Computational Science?"
Michael I. Miller, Johns Hopkins University
"The Emergent Discipline of Computational Functional Anatomy"
Robert D. MacPherson, Institute for Advanced Study
"The Geometry of Polycrystalline Materials"
The general public is invited to attend, and we very much hope that you will share this invitation with your colleagues. If you are planning to come we
would be most appreciative if you would register in advance at: http://www.amcs.upenn.edu/symposium/index.html
