Dr. Jayne Raper's Research to Make Cattle Disease-Resistant in Africa Highlighted in Film at Cornell Alliance for Science
A short film on the research of Professor Jayne Raper, of the Biological Sciences Department, was shown recently at the Cornell Alliance of Science http://allianceforscience.cornell.edu/jayne-rapers-research-make-disease-resistant-cattle-africa ; the night was devoted to dealing with the topic of GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). The mission of the Cornell Alliance for Science is "to promote access to scientific innovation as a means of enhancing food security, improving environmental sustainability and raising the quality of life globally." According to their website, Dr. Raper's research may contribute to the reduction of poverty "through a genetic solution to sleeping sickness in cattle."
