Hunter Film Students Invited to Participate in Prestigious 'DOC NYC' Film Festival
For the first time, students in the Integrated Media Arts (IMA) MFA Program, located in Hunter's Film & Media Department, have been invited to participate in DOC NYC’s upcoming “DOC NYC – U,” a day of student screenings from top graduate programs like Columbia, NYU, and SVA. The IMA showcase (IFC Center, Friday, November 11: 10:15 AM – 11:30 AM) includes nine short films by current Hunter students and recent alumni. An IMA curatorial panel – Sarah Friedland (alum), David Riker (1-credit workshop instructor), and Reiko Tahara (adjunct faculty) – selected the films from a large pool of submissions.
DOC NYC (November 10 – 17, 2016) is America’s largest documentary film festival and was voted by MovieMaker magazine as one of the “top five coolest documentary film festivals in the world.” An Academy Award qualifying festival for short films, DOC NYC is based at the West Village’s IFC Center, Chelsea’s SVA Theater, and the Bow Tie Chelsea Cinema.
