Hunter Graduate Student Awarded Horst Schulz Prize

Jia Ma was awarded the Horst Shulz Biochemistry prize for 2012 first-authored paper. His paper, published in Proc. National Acad. of Sciences, entitled "Fe2+ binds iron resonsive element RNA, selectively changing protein-binding affinities and regulating mRNA repression and activation" describes a novel mechanism for regulation of proteins involved in iron storage. Jia Ma is a graduate student in Prof. Dixie Goss' lab at Hunter College.
