Professor Yukiko Koga Wins Francis L. K. Hsu Book Prize

Professor Yukiko Koga, of the Anthropology Department, is the winner of this year’s Francis L. K. Hsu Prize for her book, Inheritance of Loss: China, Japan and the Political Economy of Redemption after Empire. The Francis L. K. Hsu Book Prize is awarded by the American Anthropological Association’s Society for East Asian Anthropology (SEAA) for the best English-language book published in the previous calendar year (2016) judged to have made the most significant contribution to the field. The prize is named for the late Francis L.K. Hsu (1909-2000), renowned cross-cultural anthropologist and former President (1977-78) of the American Anthropological Association.

The prize will be officially awarded at the Society for East Asian Anthropology (SEAA) business meeting at the AAA meetings in Washington DC on Friday, December 1 at 7:45pm.
